p70 S6 Kinase Monoclonal / Vio515 / REA843
Product Details
Description | Clone REA843 recognizes the intracellular p70 S6 Kinase, also known as ribosomal protein S6 kinase beta-1. It is a serine/threonine kinase that is widely expressed in the cytosol and in the nucleus. It mediates cell cycle progression and is involved in the regulation of protein synthesis. The p70 S6 kinase is localized in cytosol and in the nucleus, after cytokine stimulation. TNF-receptor activation leads to activation of the p70 S6 kinase, which increases protein synthesis and cell proliferation. In addition, p70 S6 kinase is a major effector of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) phosphorylation. | Additional information: Clone REA843 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About p70 S6 Kinase
This gene encodes a member of the ribosomal S6 kinase family of serine/threonine kinases. The encoded protein responds to mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) signaling to promote protein synthesis, cell growth, and cell proliferation. Activity of this gene has been associated with human cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed. The use of alternative translation start sites results in isoforms with longer or shorter N-termini which may differ in their subcellular localizations. There are two pseudogenes for this gene on chromosome 17. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]
