CD86 Monoclonal / PE-Vio615 / REA968
Product Details
Description | Clone REA968 recognizes the human CD86 antigen, also known as B7-2 or B70, which is an 80 kDa molecule and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Together with CD80 (B7-1) it belongs to the B7 family of co-stimulatory molecules. CD86 is expressed on activated B and T cells, dendritic cells, and monocytes/macrophages. The interaction of CD86 with its ligands CD28 and CD152 (CTLA- 4) plays a critical role in induction and regulation of immune responses, e.g., cross-talk between T and B cells, T cell costimulation, or immunoglobulin class-switching. Binding of CD86 to CD28 on T cells results in transduction of costimulatory signals for activation or proliferation of T cells or cytokine production. | Additional information: Clone REA968 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About CD86
This gene encodes a type I membrane protein that is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. This protein is expressed by antigen-presenting cells, and it is the ligand for two proteins at the cell surface of T cells, CD28 antigen and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4. Binding of this protein with CD28 antigen is a costimulatory signal for activation of the T-cell. Binding of this protein with cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 negatively regulates T-cell activation and diminishes the immune response. Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants encoding different isoforms.[provided by RefSeq, May 2011]
