CD85j Monoclonal / PE-Vio615 / REA998

Product Details
Description Clone REA998 recognizes the human CD85j (ILT2) antigen, an inhibitory immunoreceptor of the immunoglobulin-like transcript (ILT) family. CD85j is a type I transmembrane protein with four extracellular Ig-like domains and four cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs) in its cytoplasmic tail. The inhibitory signal is transmitted by recruiting SH2-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase-1 that dephosphorylates and inactivates downstream tyrosine kinases. Expression of CD85j is found on B cells, monocytes, dendritic cells, and subsets of natural killer (NK) and T cells. CD85j is known to bind classical and non-classical MHC class I molecules, human cytomegalovirus UL18 protein, and some HLA-C alleles, as ligands. Crosslinking of CD85j prevents activation of B cells, T cells, NK cells, macrophages, and downregulation of effector mechanisms, such as NK and T cells cytolytic functions. | Additional information: Clone REA998 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD85j
This gene is a member of the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LIR) family, which is found in a gene cluster at chromosomal region 19q13.4. The encoded protein belongs to the subfamily B class of LIR receptors which contain two or four extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, and two to four cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). The receptor is expressed on immune cells where it binds to MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells and transduces a negative signal that inhibits stimulation of an immune response. It is thought to control inflammatory responses and cytotoxicity to help focus the immune response and limit autoreactivity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
