CD68 Monoclonal / PE-Vio770 / REA886

Product Details
Description Clone REA886 recognizes the human CD68 antigen, a 110 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein classified as a lysosomal/endosomal–associated membrane glycoprotein (LAMP) family member. CD68 is highly expressed by human monocytes and tissue macrophages but also found in subpopulations of B cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and other cells. It is found predominantly in late endosomal and lysosomal compartments, with a modest level of cell surface expression. CD68 is suggested to be involved in phagocytic activities of tissue macrophages, in intracellular lysosomal metabolism, and extracellular cell-cell and cell-pathogen interactions. | Additional information: Clone REA886 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD68
This gene encodes a 110-kD transmembrane glycoprotein that is highly expressed by human monocytes and tissue macrophages. It is a member of the lysosomal/endosomal-associated membrane glycoprotein (LAMP) family. The protein primarily localizes to lysosomes and endosomes with a smaller fraction circulating to the cell surface. It is a type I integral membrane protein with a heavily glycosylated extracellular domain and binds to tissue- and organ-specific lectins or selectins. The protein is also a member of the scavenger receptor family. Scavenger receptors typically function to clear cellular debris, promote phagocytosis, and mediate the recruitment and activation of macrophages. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcripts encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
About PE-Vio770
PE-Vio® 770 from Miltenyi Biotec is a red-emitting tandem fluorophore that combines pycoerythrin (PE) and Vio®770. The donor molecule, PE can be excited by the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser and and transfers energy to the acceptor molecule, Vio®770, which emitts light that can be captured with a 780/60 nm bandpass filter. PE-Vio®770 has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 775 nm and is a common alternative to PE-Cy7 and PE-H7.
