The protein encoded by this gene, basigin, is a plasma membrane protein that is important in spermatogenesis, embryo implantation, neural network formation, and tumor progression. Basigin is also a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, ubiquitously expressed in various tissues. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. About CF555
CF®555 from Biotium is a fluorophore with an excitation peak at 555 nm and an emission peak at 565 nm. It can be useful in both fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. It is spectrally similar to Alexa Fluor™ 555, ATTO 550 and DyLight™ 550. In Flow Cytometry, R-PE is a brighter alternative to CF®555. In microscopy, it has been validated for use in super-resolution imaging by STORM.
