CD181 Monoclonal / VioGreen / REA958

Product Details
Description Clone REA958 recognizes the human CD181 antigen, a multi-pass membrane protein also known as C-X-C chemokine receptor type 1 (CXCR1) or IL-8 receptor A (IL-8RA). CD181 is expressed as homodimer or heterodimer with CD182 (CXCR2) and found on granulocytes, natural killer (NK) cells, a subset of T lymphocytes, mast cells, monocytes, endothelial cells, megakarocytes, and oligodendrocytes. It is one of two high-affinity receptors for interleukin 8 (IL-8), a major mediator of immune and inflammatory responses implicated in many disorders, including tumor growth. IL-8, released in response to inflammatory stimuli, binds to the extracellular part of CD181. The ligand-activated intracellular signaling pathways results in neutrophil migration to the site of inflammation. | Additional information: Clone REA958 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD181
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor family. This protein is a receptor for interleukin 8 (IL8). It binds to IL8 with high affinity, and transduces the signal through a G-protein activated second messenger system. Knockout studies in mice suggested that this protein inhibits embryonic oligodendrocyte precursor migration in developing spinal cord. This gene, IL8RB, a gene encoding another high affinity IL8 receptor, as well as IL8RBP, a pseudogene of IL8RB, form a gene cluster in a region mapped to chromosome 2q33-q36.
