CD66e Monoclonal / PE / REA876

Product Details
Description Clone REA876 recognizes the human CD66e antigen, a member of the immunoglobin superfamily which is also known as carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) or CEA-related cell adhesion molecules 5 (CEACAM5). CD66e is GPI-linked glycosylated protein found in adenocarcinomas of endodermally derived digestive system epithelium and fetal colon. CD66e and other CEACAMs are host receptors for the Dr family of adhesins of Escherichia coli. CD66e is an intercellular adhesion molecule and is able to inhibit cellular differentiation. The overexpression of CD66e is used as an indicator for tumor invasiveness. | Additional information: Clone REA876 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD66e
This gene encodes a cell surface glycoprotein that represents the founding member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family of proteins. The encoded protein is used as a clinical biomarker for gastrointestinal cancers and may promote tumor development through its role as a cell adhesion molecule. Additionally, the encoded protein may regulate differentiation, apoptosis, and cell polarity. This gene is present in a CEA family gene cluster on chromosome 19. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]
About PE
Phycoerythrin (PE, R-PE) is a red-emitting fluorescent protein-chromophore complex that can be excited the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser with increasing efficiency and captured with a 586/14 nm bandpass filter. PE has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 578 nm. PE is 240kD in size and has an extinction coefficient of ~2x10^6 which makes it one of the brightest fluorophores available and a potent donor upon which to build tandem fluorophores with longer Stoke's Shifts.
