CD163 Monoclonal / PerCP-Vio700 / REA812

Product Details
Description Clone REA812 recognizes the human CD163 antigen, a single-chain transmembrane protein also known as hemoglobin scavenger receptor or M130. It is expressed by mature tissue macrophages and peripheral blood monocytes. The expression of CD163 is up-regulated in vitro and in vivo by anti-inflammatory mediators such as interleukin 10 (IL-10) and (gluco)corticosteroid and is shed to blood upon inflammatory activation of macrophages. CD163 functions as a high affinity scavenger receptor for the complex of haemoglobin and haptoglobin. Depending on the ligand, crosslinking of CD163 initiates signal transduction leading to the production of proinflammatory cytokines Il-1ß, IL-6, and GM-CSF or the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. | Additional information: Clone REA812 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD163
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) superfamily, and is exclusively expressed in monocytes and macrophages. It functions as an acute phase-regulated receptor involved in the clearance and endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes by macrophages, and may thereby protect tissues from free hemoglobin-mediated oxidative damage. This protein may also function as an innate immune sensor for bacteria and inducer of local inflammation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
About PerCP-Vio700
PerCP-Vio® 770 is a far-red-emitting tandem fluorophore that combines PerCP and a Vio®770 dye. The donor, PerCP, can be excited by the 488 nm blue laser and transfers energy to the acceptor, Vio®770, which emits light that can be captured with a 780/60 nm bandpass filter. APC-Vio®770 has an excitation peak at 482 nm and an emission peak at 704 nm, and is spectrally similar to PerCP-Cy5.5 and PerCP-eF710. PerCP-Vio®770 is known to be very bright and photostable, as well as being stable when treated with fixatives. These favorable characteristics that make it useful in multiple different applications such as flow cytometry and Fluorescence Microscopy. The large stokes shift can be advantageous when trying to fit more colors into a multicolor panel. The Vio® dye family are products of Miltenyi Biotec, with many antibody conjugates designed and validated for flow cytometry.
