| Description | Clone REA778 recognizes the mouse CD73 antigen, also known as ecto-5'-nucleotidase. CD73 is a glycosyl phosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked membrane-bound glycoprotein and dephosphorylates extracellular nucleoside monophosphatase into nucleosides. Expression of CD73 is found in subsets of myeloid cells, T cells,and thymic epithelial cells. CD73 together with ectozyme CD39 regulates the extracellular ATP and adenosine levels. | Additional information: Clone REA778 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

The protein encoded by this gene is a plasma membrane protein that catalyzes the conversion of extracellular nucleotides to membrane-permeable nucleosides. The encoded protein is used as a determinant of lymphocyte differentiation. Defects in this gene can lead to the calcification of joints and arteries. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]
