CD83 Monoclonal / PE / REA714

Product Details
Description Clone REA714 recognizes the human CD83 antigen, a 45 kDa glycoprotein member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of receptors. In humans, CD83 is expressed on the surface of activated dendritic cells (DCs) and can therefore be used as a marker for the phenotypical characterization of DC maturation. CD83 plays a role in antigen presentation and lymphocyte activation. | Additional information: Clone REA714 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD83
The protein encoded by this gene is a single-pass type I membrane protein and member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of receptors. The encoded protein may be involved in the regulation of antigen presentation. A soluble form of this protein can bind to dendritic cells and inhibit their maturation. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]
About PE
Phycoerythrin (PE, R-PE) is a red-emitting fluorescent protein-chromophore complex that can be excited the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser with increasing efficiency and captured with a 586/14 nm bandpass filter. PE has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 578 nm. PE is 240kD in size and has an extinction coefficient of ~2x10^6 which makes it one of the brightest fluorophores available and a potent donor upon which to build tandem fluorophores with longer Stoke's Shifts.
