CD16b Monoclonal / VioBlue / REA589
Product Details
Description | Clone REA589 recognizes the human CD16b antigen, a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored protein known as low affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc region receptor III-B. CD16 is expressed in two different isoforms, FcgammaRIIIa (CD16a), which is found on human NK cells, macrophages, and mast cells, and FcgammaRIIIb (CD16b) Fc receptors, that bind to the Fc portion of IgG antibodies which mediates NK cell activating. CD16b is polymorphic and has two codominant alleles that are related to Neutrophil Antigen 1 (NA1) and Neutrophil Antigen 2 (NA2). Clone REA589 is present on polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) expressing the NA1 molecule. | Additional information: Clone REA589 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About CD16b
The protein encoded by this gene is a low affinity receptor for the Fc region of gamma immunoglobulins (IgG). The encoded protein acts as a monomer and can bind either monomeric or aggregated IgG. This gene may function to capture immune complexes in the peripheral circulation. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. A highly-similar gene encoding a related protein is also found on chromosome 1. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]
