CD103 Monoclonal / Biotin / REA531

Product Details
Description Clone REA531 recognizes the rat CD103 antigen, a type I transmembrane protein, which is also known as alphaE integrin. It associates with integrin beta7 to form the heterodimeric integrin molecule alphaEbeta7 and is a receptor for the ligand E-cadherin expressed on epithelial cells. CD103 is expressed by bone marrow–derived dendritic cells and is found on intraepithelial and peripheral lymphocytes, such as regulatory T cell subpopulations. Rat plasmacytoid dendritic cells do not express the dendritic cell–specific marker CD103. | Additional information: Clone REA531 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD103
Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. This gene encodes an I-domain-containing alpha integrin that undergoes post-translational cleavage in the extracellular domain, yielding disulfide-linked heavy and light chains. In combination with the beta 7 integrin, this protein forms the E-cadherin binding integrin known as the human mucosal lymphocyte-1 antigen. This protein is preferentially expressed in human intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL), and in addition to a role in adhesion, it may serve as an accessory molecule for IEL activation.
