Syndecan-2 Monoclonal / APC / REA468
Product Details
Description | Clone REA468 recognizes the human CD362 antigen, a single-pass type I membrane protein which is also known as syndecan-2, fibroglycan, or heparan sulfate proteoglycan core protein (HSPG). The syndecans are a family of transmembrane receptors with roles in cell adhesion, migration, and growth factor signaling. CD362 is expressed on mesenchymal cells in the vasculature and, like the other members of its family, can be shed from the cell surface resulting in the release of its extracellular core protein. It is also expressed on neuronal and epithelial cells, and is the predominant syndecan expressed during embryonic development. Expression of CD362 is upregulated in several cancer cell lines. CD362 induces dendritic spine formation in hippocampal neurons, and this depends on phosphorylation of the CD362 cytoplasmic domain by the tyrosine kinase receptor EphB. In colon carcinoma cells CD362 expression affects adhesion, proliferation, and tumorigenic activity. | Additional information: Clone REA468 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About Syndecan-2
The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell binding, cell signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. The syndecan-2 protein functions as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. Altered syndecan-2 expression has been detected in several different tumor types. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

About APC
Allophycocyanin (APC) is a fluorescent protein derived from cyanobacteria and red algae and a potent donor fluorophore to create tandem dyes that can be excited off the 633-640 nm laser. APC has an excitation peak at 650 nm and a emission peak at 660 nm.
