Collagen X / Biotin / X-AC9

Product Details
Description Collagen Type X Monoclonal Antibody, Biotin conjugate (X-AC9). Type X collagen is a non-fibrillar, short-chain, network-forming collagen found in fetal hypertrophic cartilage in the growth zones of long bones, vertebrae, and ribs. It is a short collagen with a triple helical core half the length of the fibril-forming collagen type I, II, and III and a globular domain at the carboxyl end (NC-1 domain) through which the molecules assemble into an hexagonal meshwork. The function of collagen X, a unique homotrimer synthesised by hypertrophic chondrocytes, is not known but its localization and transient expression at sites of calcification suggest that it is likely to be associated with events in the early stages of endochondral bone formation.IF Assay Dependent, IHC (P, F) 2-4 µg/ml - -

About Collagen X
This gene encodes the alpha chain of type X collagen, a short chain collagen expressed by hypertrophic chondrocytes during endochondral ossification. Unlike type VIII collagen, the other short chain collagen, type X collagen is a homotrimer. Mutations in this gene are associated with Schmid type metaphyseal chondrodysplasia (SMCD) and Japanese type spondylometaphyseal dysplasia (SMD). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
