CD49e / Vio Bright V423 / REA686
Product Details
Description | Clone REA686 recognizes the human CD49e antigen, also known as integrin alpha5 chain. Integrins are cell-surface receptors, expressed as heterodimers essential in various processes mediating intercellular or cellmatrix interaction. Integrin alpha5 is composed of a heavy and a light chain linked by a disulfide bond. CD49e associates non-covalently with the integrin ß1 (CD29) forming the very late activation antigen-5 (VLA5) complex which is expressed on many cell types including peripheral lymphocytes, monocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells and is a receptor for fibronectin and fibrinogen but functions also as a receptor for laminin and several other extracellular matrix proteins. | Additional information: Clone REA686 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About CD49e
The product of this gene belongs to the integrin alpha chain family. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha subunit and a beta subunit that function in cell surface adhesion and signaling. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate light and heavy chains that comprise the alpha 5 subunit. This subunit associates with the beta 1 subunit to form a fibronectin receptor. This integrin may promote tumor invasion, and higher expression of this gene may be correlated with shorter survival time in lung cancer patients. Note that the integrin alpha 5 and integrin alpha V subunits are encoded by distinct genes. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]

About Vio Bright V423
Vio® Bright V423 is a very bright Violet emitting synthetic fluorophore used in flow cytometry. The excitation and emission peaks are 399 nm and 420 nm, respectively, which means that this dye is optimally excited by the 405 nm Violet laser while the emission light is collected by a 450/50 bandpass filter.
