MIP-1 alpha / Biotin /

Product Details
Description Macrophage inflammatory protein 1 alpha (MIP-1 alpha) is a potent inhibitor of hemopoietic stem cell proliferation and is a member of a family of pro- inflammatory mediators, the chemokine family.1 MIP-1 alpha is a particularly interesting chemokine, because in addition to its proinflammatory activities, it inhibits the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells.2 The role of MIP-1 alpha seems to be related to production of TNF-alpha, which in turn up-regulates vascular adhesion molecules required for neutrophil influx.3

About MIP-1 alpha
This locus represents a small inducible cytokine. The encoded protein, also known as macrophage inflammatory protein 1 alpha, plays a role in inflammatory responses through binding to the receptors CCR1, CCR4 and CCR5. Polymorphisms at this locus may be associated with both resistance and susceptibility to infection by human immunodeficiency virus type 1.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]
