CXCL5 / Biotin /

Product Details
Description CXCL5 is an inflammatory chemokine that belongs to the CXC chemokine family1 that has a role in the development of cardiovascular diseases.2 CXCL5 is expressed by fibroblasts, is induced by bacterial lipopolysaccharides, and is chemotactic for neutrophils.1 It is expressed by epithelial cells within colorectal mucosa is a chemoattractant for neutrophils and has been implicated in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.3 CXCL5 is important in growth and development of colorectal cancer, implicating a future role in both cancer therapy and diagnosis.4

About CXCL5
This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the CXC subfamily of chemokines. Chemokines, which recruit and activate leukocytes, are classified by function (inflammatory or homeostatic) or by structure. This protein is proposed to bind the G-protein coupled receptor chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 2 to recruit neutrophils, to promote angiogenesis and to remodel connective tissues. This protein is thought to play a role in cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]
