CD8a / DyLight 650 / 53-6.7

Product Details
Description CD8 is made up of disulfide-linked alpha and beta chains that form the alpha(CD8a)/beta(CD8b) heterodimer and alpha/alpha homodimer. CD8 is part of the Ig superfamily that expresses primarily as CD8a homodimers. CD8a is a 32-34 kD type I glycoprotein that can also form heterodimers with CD8b. CD8 is an antigen co-receptor on T cells that mediates efficient cell to cell interactions within the immune system. CD8 coupled with the T cell receptor on the T lymphocyte recognizes an antigen displayed by an antigen presenting cell (APC) in the context of class I MHC molecules. The CD8 co-receptor also plays a role in T cell signaling by interacting with Lck (lymphocyte-specific protein tyrosine kinase) which leads to the activation of transcription factors that affect the expression of certain genes.

About CD8a
The CD8 antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. The CD8 antigen acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor on the T lymphocyte to recognize antigens displayed by an antigen presenting cell in the context of class I MHC molecules. The coreceptor functions as either a homodimer composed of two alpha chains or as a heterodimer composed of one alpha and one beta chain. Both alpha and beta chains share significant homology to immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene encodes the CD8 alpha chain. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. The major protein isoforms of this gene differ by the presence or absence of a transmembrane domain and thus differ in being a membrane-anchored or secreted protein. [provided by RefSeq, May 2020]
About DyLight 650
DyLight™ 650 is a red-emitting fluorophore that excited by the 640 nm laser and collected using a 670/30 nm bandpass filter. DyLight™ 650 has an excitation peak at 652 nm and an emission peak at 672 nm, and is spectrally similar to Alexa Fluor™ 647 and Cy5. DyLight™ 650 is most commonly used in flow cytometery and fluorescence microscopy applications.
