TOX / Vio515 / REA473
Product Details
Description | Clone REA473 recognizes the human and mouse TOX antigen, a member of an evolutionarily conserved DNA-binding protein family, and also known as thymocyte selection-associated HMG box protein. TOX is a thymic transcript that is highly upregulated in CD4+CD8+ double positive thymocytes. It is expressed in the thymus in a stage-specific regulated manner and in several immune-relevant cell subsets. TOX expression is also detected in other tissues, including liver, where it likely plays additional functions in regulating metabolic processes. It is part of the larger HMG-box superfamily of proteins, but also defines a small subfamily of proteins including TOX2, TOX3, and TOX4, all of which are highly conserved in vertebrate species. While the in vivo functions of TOX have been best characterized, TOX2 may play a role in reproductive organs, TOX3 has been implicated in regulation of neuron cell survival and breast cancer, and TOX4 is known to interact with a phosphatase complex involved in the control of chromatin structure and cell cycle progression. | Additional information: Clone REA473 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About TOX
The protein encoded by this gene contains a HMG box DNA binding domain. HMG boxes are found in many eukaryotic proteins involved in chromatin assembly, transcription and replication. This protein may function to regulate T-cell development.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2009]
