Collagen III / PE / REAL912

Product Details
Description Clone REAL912 is an antibody fragment derived from the full Collagen III antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity. | Clone REAL912 recognizes Collagen III, a fibrillar scleroprotein, is encoded by the COL3A1 gene. Collagen III consists of only one alpha collagen chain which forms a homotrimer containing three alpha1(III) chains and is secreted by fibroblasts and other mesenchymal cell types. It occurs in most extensible connective tissues e.g. in skin, lung, in the vascular system and in bone, cartilage, dentin, tendon, bone marrow and stroma. Collagen III is associated with type I collagen, which are the major components of the interstitial matrix. Collagen III plays a role in the regulation of cortical development. Genomic mutations of COL3A1 lead to different types of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or aortic aneurysm abdominal (AAA). | For removal of REAdye_lease fluorochromes for optional relabeling with different fluorochrome-conjugated REAdye_lease antibodies use the REAlease Support Kit (130-120-675) |

About Collagen III
This gene encodes the pro-alpha1 chains of type III collagen, a fibrillar collagen that is found in extensible connective tissues such as skin, lung, uterus, intestine and the vascular system, frequently in association with type I collagen. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome types IV, and with aortic and arterial aneurysms. Two transcripts, resulting from the use of alternate polyadenylation signals, have been identified for this gene. [provided by R. Dalgleish, Feb 2008]
About PE
Phycoerythrin (PE, R-PE) is a red-emitting fluorescent protein-chromophore complex that can be excited the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser with increasing efficiency and captured with a 586/14 nm bandpass filter. PE has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 578 nm. PE is 240kD in size and has an extinction coefficient of ~2x10^6 which makes it one of the brightest fluorophores available and a potent donor upon which to build tandem fluorophores with longer Stoke's Shifts.
