This gene encodes the alpha subunit of a transmembrane receptor for collagens and related proteins. The encoded protein forms a heterodimer with a beta subunit and mediates the adhesion of platelets and other cell types to the extracellular matrix. Loss of the encoded protein is associated with bleeding disorder platelet-type 9. Antibodies against this protein are found in several immune disorders, including neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. This gene is located adjacent to a related alpha subunit gene. PE-Dazzle® 594 (RPE-Dazzle 594) from Biolegend is a red-emitting tandem fluorophore that combines pycoerythrin (PE) and Dazzle 594. The donor molecule, PE can be excited by the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser and and transfers energy to the acceptor molecule, Dazzle 594, which emitts light that can be captured with a 610/20 nm bandpass filter. PE-Dazzle 594 has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 610 nm, and is suitable alternative to PE-Texas Red, PE-eF610, PE-Alexa Fluor™ 610 or PE-CF®594.
