CD79b Monoclonal / Biotin / HM79-12

Product Details
Description Clone HM79-12 recognizes the mouse CD79b antigen, a 35-40kD Single-pass type I membrane protein also known as B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein beta chain (Igbeta chain). The heterodimeric CD79 molecule is composed of an alpha chain (CD79a) and a beta chain (CD79b) and is associated with surface immunoglobulins to form the B cell receptor. The CD79a/CD79b heterodimer facilitates the differentiation of pre-B cells from pro-B cells, surface expression of surface Ig, signal transduction following antigen recognition and endocytosis of recognized antigens. Crosslinking of CD79b in vitro by monoclonal antibodies activates pre-B cells but blocks terminal differentiation of all plasma cell isotypes. It was shown that a combination of CD79alpha and CD79beta monoclonal antibodies can effectively deplete B cells from peripheral blood, spleen, bone marrow, and lymph nodes in mice. |

About CD79b
The B lymphocyte antigen receptor is a multimeric complex that includes the antigen-specific component, surface immunoglobulin (Ig). Surface Ig non-covalently associates with two other proteins, Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, which are necessary for expression and function of the B-cell antigen receptor. This gene encodes the Ig-beta protein of the B-cell antigen component. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
