CD244 Monoclonal / Biotin / REA112
Product Details
Description | Clone REA112 recognizes CD244, a type I transmembrane receptor belonging to the CD2 subfamily of the Ig superfamily. Expression of CD244 is found on all natural killer (NK) cells, large subset of CD8+ T cells, a small fraction of CD4+ T cells, and eosinophils. Human CD244 upon ligand engagement activates NK cell cytotoxicity and production of interferon gamma (IFN-gamma). Activating function of human CD244 requires recruitment of SH2 domain containing molecule called SLAM associated protein (SAP). In humans, CD244 has also been implicated as an inhibitory receptor such as in developing NK cells. In contrast, murine CD244 is primarily involved in inhibiting NK cell functions. Two isoforms of human CD244 exist on NK cells, h2B4-A and h2B4-B, which differ in their binding affinity to ligand CD48. | Additional information: Clone REA112 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | | |

About CD244
This gene encodes a cell surface receptor expressed on natural killer (NK) cells (and some T cells) that mediate non-major histocompatibility complex (MHC) restricted killing. The interaction between NK-cell and target cells via this receptor is thought to modulate NK-cell cytolytic activity. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]
