CD89 Monoclonal / PE / REA234

Product Details
Description Clone REA234 recognizes CD89, the human myeloid IgA Fc receptor. CD89 is a glycosylated transmembrane protein that binds both IgA subclasses (IgA1 and IgA2) and is closely related to the KIR and MIR proteins rather than to other human Fc receptors. CD89 itself lacks the canonical signal transduction domains, however it associates with the FcR gamma-chain with an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation (ITAM) motif, which allows transduction of activation signal upon ligand binding. FcalphaRI alone mediates endocytosis and recyling of IgA. Expression of CD89 is found on neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes/macrophages, dendritic cells, and Kupffer cells. | Additional information: Clone REA234 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |

About CD89
This gene is a member of the immunoglobulin gene superfamily and encodes a receptor for the Fc region of IgA. The receptor is a transmembrane glycoprotein present on the surface of myeloid lineage cells such as neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, and eosinophils, where it mediates immunologic responses to pathogens. It interacts with IgA-opsonized targets and triggers several immunologic defense processes, including phagocytosis, antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and stimulation of the release of inflammatory mediators. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
About PE
Phycoerythrin (PE, R-PE) is a red-emitting fluorescent protein-chromophore complex that can be excited the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser with increasing efficiency and captured with a 586/14 nm bandpass filter. PE has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 578 nm. PE is 240kD in size and has an extinction coefficient of ~2x10^6 which makes it one of the brightest fluorophores available and a potent donor upon which to build tandem fluorophores with longer Stoke's Shifts.
