IL-13 R alpha 2 Monoclonal / Biotin / REA308
Product Details
Description | Clone REA308 recognizes the human CD213alpha2 antigen, a single-pass type I membrane protein which is also known as interleukin-13 receptor subunit alpha-2 (IL-13Ralpha2). CD213alpha2 is a high affinity receptor for IL-13 that is used only by IL-13 and is quite distinct from CD213alpha1 (IL-13Ralpha1) that IL-13 shares with IL-4. CD213alpha2 is expressed by fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, keratinocytes, and activated B cells. It has been thought to be a decoy receptor due to its short cytoplasmic tail and it exists on the cell membrane, intracellularly, and in soluble form. Recent reports revealed that membrane CD213alpha2 may have some signaling capabilities, and soluble CD213alpha2 is a critical endogenous modulator for IL-13 responses. Additionally, IL-13 signaling via CD213alpha2 plays a role in tumor immune surveillance. | Additional information: Clone REA308 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About IL-13 R alpha 2
The protein encoded by this gene is closely related to Il13RA1, a subuint of the interleukin 13 receptor complex. This protein binds IL13 with high affinity, but lacks cytoplasmic domain, and does not appear to function as a signal mediator. It is reported to play a role in the internalization of IL13.
