CD268 Monoclonal / PE-Vio770 / 7H22-E16

Product Details
Description Clone 7H22-E16 reacts with CD268, also known as B cell activation factor receptor (BAFF-R), a type III transmembrane TNF receptor family member. CD268 is expressed at high levels on resting B cells, at lower levels on activated B cells, and on a small subset of activated/memory T cells. BAFF, also known as BLys, mediates costimulatory responses in peripheral B and T cells. BAFF is a key regulator for B cell differentiation as well as survival and activation of peripheral B cell populations. Accordingly, CD268 appears to be particularly involved in the regulation of normal B cell survival and maturation, but also in the pathophysiology of aggressive B cell malignancies and autoimmune diseases.

About CD268
B cell-activating factor (BAFF) enhances B-cell survival in vitro and is a regulator of the peripheral B-cell population. Overexpression of Baff in mice results in mature B-cell hyperplasia and symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Also, some SLE patients have increased levels of BAFF in serum. Therefore, it has been proposed that abnormally high levels of BAFF may contribute to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases by enhancing the survival of autoreactive B cells. The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor for BAFF and is a type III transmembrane protein containing a single extracellular cysteine-rich domain. It is thought that this receptor is the principal receptor required for BAFF-mediated mature B-cell survival. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
About PE-Vio770
PE-Vio® 770 from Miltenyi Biotec is a red-emitting tandem fluorophore that combines pycoerythrin (PE) and Vio®770. The donor molecule, PE can be excited by the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser and and transfers energy to the acceptor molecule, Vio®770, which emitts light that can be captured with a 780/60 nm bandpass filter. PE-Vio®770 has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 775 nm and is a common alternative to PE-Cy7 and PE-H7.
