| Description | Clone REA124 recognizes the human interferon alpha/beta receptor 2 (IFNAR2) antigen, a 100 kDa single-pass type I membrane protein that forms one of the two chains of a receptor for the type I interferons IFN-alpha, IFN-beta, and IFN-ω. These interferons are a group of structurally and functionally related proteins, induced by viruses or double-stranded RNA and defined by their ability to establish an antiviral state in cells. IFNAR2 is expressed on most lymphocytes, monocytes, and granulocytes, although IFNAR2 expression is higher on monocytes and granulocytes than on lymphocytes. It is involved in IFN-mediated STAT1, STAT2, and STAT3 activation. The alternatively spliced isoform of IFNAR2 is a potent inhibitor of type I IFN receptor activity. | Additional information: Clone REA124 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About IFN-alpha/beta R2
The protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane protein that forms one of the two chains of a receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding and activation of the receptor stimulates Janus protein kinases, which in turn phosphorylate several proteins, including STAT1 and STAT2. Phycoerythrin (PE, R-PE) is a red-emitting fluorescent protein-chromophore complex that can be excited the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser with increasing efficiency and captured with a 586/14 nm bandpass filter. PE has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 578 nm. PE is 240kD in size and has an extinction coefficient of ~2x10^6 which makes it one of the brightest fluorophores available and a potent donor upon which to build tandem fluorophores with longer Stoke's Shifts.
