OCT-2 Monoclonal / APC / REA251
Product Details
Description | Clone REA251 recognizes the Octamer-binding protein 2 (Oct-2) antigen, a transcription factor also known as POU domain class 2 transcription factor 2 (POU2F2). Oct-2 is expressed primarily in B lymphocytes and the developing central nervous system. It regulates gene transcription in a number of tissues in addition to activating immunoglobulin gene expression for normal humoral responses to T-dependent and T-independent antigens. Oct-2 binds to conserved sites in immunoglobulin variable gene promoters, several immunoglobulin gene enhancers and to sites in the promoters of other genes whose expression is B cell restricted. Once bound to a promoter, Oct-2 facilitates the assembly of the transcription initiation complex. | Additional information: Clone REA251 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | | |

About OCT-2
Polyspecific organic cation transporters in the liver, kidney, intestine, and other organs are critical for elimination of many endogenous small organic cations as well as a wide array of drugs and environmental toxins. This gene is one of three similar cation transporter genes located in a cluster on chromosome 6. The encoded protein contains twelve putative transmembrane domains and is a plasma integral membrane protein. It is found primarily in the kidney, where it may mediate the first step in cation reabsorption. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

About APC
Allophycocyanin (APC) is a fluorescent protein derived from cyanobacteria and red algae and a potent donor fluorophore to create tandem dyes that can be excited off the 633-640 nm laser. APC has an excitation peak at 650 nm and a emission peak at 660 nm.
