CD222 Monoclonal / Biotin / REA187
Product Details
Description | Clone REA187 recognizes CD222, a 300 kDa type I transmembrane protein, which serves as a multifunction receptor and is ubiquitously expressed. CD222 has a large extracytoplasmic domain, a single transmembrane region, and a short cytoplasmic tail that lacks intrinsic catalytic activity. The receptor cycles continuously between intracellular compartments and the plasma membrane. At steady state, CD222 is found mainly intracellularly, and to a lesser extent on the cell surface. CD222 binds IGF-2 and mannose-6 phosphate containing ligands such as transforming growth factor‐beta, leukemia inhibitory factor, and proliferin. This interaction allows CD222-mediated regulation of ligand dependent signaling and uptake and cellular processing of ligands. CD222 is further suggested to function as the cation-independent cell surface receptor for heparanase. Interaction of heparanase with various cell surfaces is suggested to be important for heparanse functions. Cell surface displayed heparanase allows efficient degaradation of local extracellular matrix (ECM)/basement membrane (BM) components. | Additional information: Clone REA187 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | | |
