CD49f Monoclonal / APC / GoH3
Product Details
Description | Clone GoH3 reacts with CD49f, a 120 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein also known as alpha6 integrin. Integrins are integral cell-surface proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain and are involved in cell adhesion as well as cell-surface mediated signaling. CD49f associates with integrin beta1 chain (CD29) to form VLA-6 and with integrin beta4 chain (CD104) to form the alpha6 beta4 complex, which plays a critical structural role in the hemidesmosome and constitutes a receptor for laminin in epithelial cells. CD49f is furthermore expressed on T cells, monocytes, platelets, endothelial cells, trophoblasts of placenta, and spermatogonial stem cells. Clone GoH3 antibody has been reported to block laminin binding in vitro and to block integrin alpha6 function in vivo. | |

About CD49f
The gene encodes a member of the integrin alpha chain family of proteins. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain that function in cell surface adhesion and signaling. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate light and heavy chains that comprise the alpha 6 subunit. This subunit may associate with a beta 1 or beta 4 subunit to form an integrin that interacts with extracellular matrix proteins including members of the laminin family. The alpha 6 beta 4 integrin may promote tumorigenesis, while the alpha 6 beta 1 integrin may negatively regulate erbB2/HER2 signaling. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. About APC
Allophycocyanin (APC) is a fluorescent protein derived from cyanobacteria and red algae and a potent donor fluorophore to create tandem dyes that can be excited off the 633-640 nm laser. APC has an excitation peak at 650 nm and a emission peak at 660 nm.
