CD164 / Unconjugated / 67D2
Product Details
Description | CD164, also known as endolyn, is a type I transmembrane protein with heavily glycosylated extracellular part containing sialic acid and glycosaminoglycan residues. CD164 plays both adhesive and antiadhesive role and serves as a potent negative regulator for CD34+ CD38- hematopoietic progenitor cell proliferation. It has also been reported to be involved in myogenic differentiation and cancer metastasis. The adhesive and negative regulatory functions seem to depend on different posttranslational modifications of CD164 protein. | |

About CD164
This gene encodes a transmembrane sialomucin and cell adhesion molecule that regulates the proliferation, adhesion and migration of hematopoietic progenitor cells. The encoded protein also interacts with the C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 and may regulate muscle development. Elevated expression of this gene has been observed in human patients with Sezary syndrome, a type of blood cancer, and a mutation in this gene may be associated with impaired hearing.
