Description | EED Monoclonal Antibody, Biotin conjugate. The EED protein (WAIT-1 or WD protein associated with integrin cytoplasmic tails-1), also called embryonic ectoderm development, is a member of the superfamily of WD-40 repeat proteins and widely conserved polycomb group (PcG) family of proteins. The polycomb group (PcG) is a large and evolutionarily conserved set of genes whose products act in multimeric complexes to modify histones, which are then thought to cause stable and heritable states of transcriptional repression. EED shuttles between the nucleus and the plasma membrane and can interact with the cytoplasmic tail of integrin Beta-7 subunit. About EED
This gene encodes a member of the Polycomb-group (PcG) family. PcG family members form multimeric protein complexes, which are involved in maintaining the transcriptional repressive state of genes over successive cell generations. This protein interacts with enhancer of zeste 2, the cytoplasmic tail of integrin beta7, immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) MA protein, and histone deacetylase proteins. This protein mediates repression of gene activity through histone deacetylation, and may act as a specific regulator of integrin function. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
