CD172b Monoclonal / PE / B4B6
Product Details
Description | CD172b, the signal-regulatory protein beta (SIRP beta) is a disulfide-linked homodimer expressed on myeloid cells including monocytes and dendritic cells. Similarly to CD172a, it serves as a negative regulator of tyrosine kinase-coupled signaling processes. Unlike CD172a, the CD172b protein does not possess the cytoplasmic domain, but instead its transmembrane domain can interact with another transmembrane protein DAP-12, which contains ITAM sequences in its intracellular domain and links CD172b to the downstream signaling molecules. The result is e.g. regulation of neutrophil transepithelial migration. | |

About CD172b
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the signal-regulatory-protein (SIRP) family, and also belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. SIRP family members are receptor-type transmembrane glycoproteins known to be involved in the negative regulation of receptor tyrosine kinase-coupled signaling processes. This protein was found to interact with TYROBP/DAP12, a protein bearing immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs. This protein was also reported to participate in the recruitment of tyrosine kinase SYK. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

About PE
Phycoerythrin (PE, R-PE) is a red-emitting fluorescent protein-chromophore complex that can be excited the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser with increasing efficiency and captured with a 586/14 nm bandpass filter. PE has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 578 nm. PE is 240kD in size and has an extinction coefficient of ~2x10^6 which makes it one of the brightest fluorophores available and a potent donor upon which to build tandem fluorophores with longer Stoke's Shifts.
