CD161 / PE-Vio615 / REA631
Product Details
Description | Clone REA631 recognizes the human CD161 antigen, a 80 kDa single-pass type II membrane protein, which is also known as natural killer cell surface protein P1A (NKR-P1A) or C-type lectin domain family 5 member B (CLEC5B). CD161 is expressed on most natural killer (NK) cells and subsets of T cells. In peripheral blood, CD161 is preferentially expressed on T cells of memory phenotype, but it can also be found on subsets of thymocytes and fetal liver T cells. CD161 has been implicated in triggering NK-mediated cytotoxicity, contributing to target cell recognition by NK cells. | Additional information: Clone REA631 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About CD161
Natural killer (NK) cells are lymphocytes that mediate cytotoxicity and secrete cytokines after immune stimulation. Several genes of the C-type lectin superfamily, including the rodent NKRP1 family of glycoproteins, are expressed by NK cells and may be involved in the regulation of NK cell function. The KLRB1 protein contains an extracellular domain with several motifs characteristic of C-type lectins, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain. The KLRB1 protein is classified as a type II membrane protein because it has an external C terminus. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
