F4/80 / PE-Vio615 / REA126

Product Details
Description Clone REA126 recognizes F4/80, a member of epidermal growth factor (EGF)-transmembrane 7 (TM7) family. F4/80 is considered as one of the most specific cell-surface markers for murine macrophages. F4/80 is a seven-span transmembrane molecule with a large extracellular, multiple EGF module–containing domain. Constitutive and high expression of F4/80 is found on most resident tissue macrophages, including the spleen, microglia in the brain, Kupffer's cells in the liver, and Langerhans cells in the skin. In addition, the expression of F4/80 can also be regulated depending on the physiological status of the cell. F4/80 molecule is required for the differentiation of antigen-specific CD8+ Tregs and is involved in inducing peripheral immune tolerance. No specific ligand for F4/80 has been reported so far. | Additional information: Clone REA126 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |

About F4/80
This gene encodes a protein that has a domain resembling seven transmembrane G protein-coupled hormone receptors (7TM receptors) at its C-terminus. The N-terminus of the encoded protein has six EGF-like modules, separated from the transmembrane segments by a serine/threonine-rich domain, a feature reminiscent of mucin-like, single-span, integral membrane glycoproteins with adhesive properties. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]
