| Description | Monoclonal antibody MAB2076Z, raised by immunizing beta6 knockout mice with recombinant secreted human alphavbeta6, is useful for flow cytometry and immunoprecipitation in all species tested, including mouse. It also works well for immunohistochemistry of acetone-fixed tissues in several species, including rat, rabbit, monkey, and human. The antibody does not work well for immunohistochemistry of mouse tissue. This antibody does not recognize the aV subunit and does not react with alphaV integrins other than alphavbeta6. Because the antibody is not effective in western Blot, it is unknown whether the epitope recognized by the antibody localizes to the alphavbeta6 heterodimer or to the beta6 subunit only. | |

About Integrin beta 6
This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the integrin superfamily. Members of this family are adhesion receptors that function in signaling from the extracellular matrix to the cell. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. The encoded protein forms a dimer with an alpha v chain and this heterodimer can bind to ligands like fibronectin and transforming growth factor beta 1. Alexa Fluor™ 647 (AF647, Alexa 647) has an excitation peak at 650 nm and an emission peak at 665 nm, and is spectrally similar to Cy®5 (GE Healthcare), iFluor® 647 (ATT Bioquest), and DyLight™ 650 (Thermo Fisher Scientific). Alexa 647 is commonly used for flow cytometry, microscopy, super-resolution microscopy applications. It is very bright, photostable, and pH insensitive, all of which contribute to sensitive detection while using this dye.
