CD169 / VioBright 515 / REA1176

Product Details
Description Clone REA1176 recognizes the human CD169, also known as siglec-1 or sialoadhesin, which is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein. It is the largest member of the siglec family, which are cell surface lectins that are able to bind to sialic acids and mediate interactions between proteins and carbohydrates. Siglec-1 is mainly expressed on tissue macrophages and dendritic cells and interacts with its counterreceptor on T cells, which has been identified as CD43. | Additional information: Clone REA1176 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD169
This gene encodes a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded protein is a lectin-like adhesion molecule that binds glycoconjugate ligands on cell surfaces in a sialic acid-dependent manner. It is a type I transmembrane protein expressed only by a subpopulation of macrophages and is involved in mediating cell-cell interactions. Alternative splicing produces a transcript variant encoding an isoform that is soluble rather than membrane-bound; however, the full-length nature of this variant has not been determined.
