OSCAR / APC / REA494
Product Details
Description | Clone REA494 recognizes the human osteoclast-associated immunoglobulin-like receptor (OSCAR) antigen, a 45 kDa single-pass type I membrane protein also known as polymeric immunoglobulin receptor 3 (PIgR-3). OSCAR is a member of the leukocyte receptor complex (LRC) protein family and is an important bone-specific regulator of osteoclast differentiation. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. OSCAR expression is detected in preosteoclasts or mature osteoclasts. Osteoclasts are terminally differentiated leukocytes that erode the mineralized bone matrix. These cells originate from hematopoietic precursors and share a common progenitor with macrophages and dendritic cells. Human OSCAR is also expressed at all stages of myeloid dendritic cell maturation, on in vitro derived macrophages, granulocytes, and monocyte derived dendritic cells. | Additional information: Clone REA494 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About OSCAR
Osteoclasts are multinucleated cells that resorb bone and are essential for bone homeostasis. This gene encodes an osteoclast-associated receptor (OSCAR), which is a member of the leukocyte receptor complex protein family that plays critical roles in the regulation of both innate and adaptive immune responses. The encoded protein may play a role in oxidative stress-mediated atherogenesis as well as monocyte adhesion. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]

About APC
Allophycocyanin (APC) is a fluorescent protein derived from cyanobacteria and red algae and a potent donor fluorophore to create tandem dyes that can be excited off the 633-640 nm laser. APC has an excitation peak at 650 nm and a emission peak at 660 nm.
