CD161 / VioBright 515 / REA1162
Product Details
Description | Clone REA1162 recognizes the mouse NK1.1 antigen, a single-pass type II membrane protein also known as CD161 or killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily B member 1. NK1.1 is expressed by natural killer cells and a subset of T cells in the mouse strains C57BL/6, FVB/N, and NZB, but not in the mouse strains AKR, BALB/c, CBA/J, C3H, DBA/1, DBA/2, NOD, SJL, and 129. It plays a stimulatory role on natural killer cells cytotoxicity. Activation by cross-linking of the receptor induces Ca 2)+ mobilization and interferon-gamma production. | Additional information: Clone REA1162 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |

About CD161
Natural killer (NK) cells are lymphocytes that mediate cytotoxicity and secrete cytokines after immune stimulation. Several genes of the C-type lectin superfamily, including the rodent NKRP1 family of glycoproteins, are expressed by NK cells and may be involved in the regulation of NK cell function. The KLRB1 protein contains an extracellular domain with several motifs characteristic of C-type lectins, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain. The KLRB1 protein is classified as a type II membrane protein because it has an external C terminus. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
