CD357 / APC / DT5D3

Product Details
Description CD357, also known as glucocorticoid-induced tumor necrosis factor receptor–related protein (GITR) or TNFRSF18, is an inducible type I transmembrane protein and member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily. | CD357 is expressed at low levels on thymocyte subsets, resting T cells, B cells, macrophages, and at high levels on CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells (Tregs). Upon activation, expression on CD4+ and CD8+ T cells is upregulated. Triggering of CD357 has been described to modulate Treg function and costimulate effector T cells. Stimulation of T cells through CD357 can abrogate the inhibitory function of Tregs. It is hypothesized that CD357 has a role in the maintenance of immunological self tolerance, and mouse models of autoimmune disease suggest that CD357 activation may break self-tolerance and induce autoimmunity. |

About CD357
This gene encodes a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. The encoded receptor has been shown to have increased expression upon T-cell activation, and it is thought to play a key role in dominant immunological self-tolerance maintained by CD25(+)CD4(+) regulatory T cells. Knockout studies in mice also suggest the role of this receptor is in the regulation of CD3-driven T-cell activation and programmed cell death. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]
About APC
Allophycocyanin (APC) is a fluorescent protein derived from cyanobacteria and red algae and a potent donor fluorophore to create tandem dyes that can be excited off the 633-640 nm laser. APC has an excitation peak at 650 nm and a emission peak at 660 nm.
