CD178 / PE / REA1056

Product Details
Description Clone REA1056 recognizes the CD178 antigen, a type II transmembrane glycoprotein also known as Fas ligand or CD95L. It is expressed on activated lymphocytes, e.g., T cells, NK cells, monocytes, or granulocytes, as well as at immune-privileged sites, e.g., cornea or testis. CD178 can trigger apoptosis through trimerization of the Fas receptor CD95. Thereby, CD178 and CD95 play a key role in the regulation of the immune system. Cleavage of membrane-bound CD178 from the cell surface via matrix metalloproteinases (such as MMP-7) generates soluble CD178 molecules. | Additional information: Clone REA1056 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.

About CD178
This gene is a member of the tumor necrosis factor superfamily. The primary function of the encoded transmembrane protein is the induction of apoptosis triggered by binding to FAS. The FAS/FASLG signaling pathway is essential for immune system regulation, including activation-induced cell death (AICD) of T cells and cytotoxic T lymphocyte induced cell death. It has also been implicated in the progression of several cancers. Defects in this gene may be related to some cases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]
About PE
Phycoerythrin (PE, R-PE) is a red-emitting fluorescent protein-chromophore complex that can be excited the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser with increasing efficiency and captured with a 586/14 nm bandpass filter. PE has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 578 nm. PE is 240kD in size and has an extinction coefficient of ~2x10^6 which makes it one of the brightest fluorophores available and a potent donor upon which to build tandem fluorophores with longer Stoke's Shifts.
