Aquaporin-1 / Unconjugated /
Product Details
Description | Aquaporin-1 (AQP1), also known as Channel-forming integral membrane protein (CHIP), is the first member of the aquaporin water channel family. It plays a role in the transmembrane water transport, especially in kidneys, red blood cells, central nervous system and some epithelial surfaces. Its activity can be blocked by mercurial compounds. AQP1 is associated with so-called Colton blood group antigens. | |

About Aquaporin-1
This gene encodes a small integral membrane protein with six bilayer spanning domains that functions as a water channel protein. This protein permits passive transport of water along an osmotic gradient. This gene is a possible candidate for disorders involving imbalance in ocular fluid movement. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2016]
