TRPV2 / Unconjugated /
Product Details
Description | Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid (TRPV) channels are widely expressed in both sensory and nonsensory cells. TRPV2, a member of transient receptor potential ion channels, responds to high-threshold noxious heat (with a threshold of approximately 52 degrees C), but neither to capsaicin nor to proton. TRPV2 transcripts are not restricted to the sensory nervous system, indicating that this channel may be activated by stimuli other than heat. | |

About TRPV2
This gene encodes an ion channel that is activated by high temperatures above 52 degrees Celsius. The protein may be involved in transduction of high-temperature heat responses in sensory ganglia. It is thought that in other tissues the channel may be activated by stimuli other than heat. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
