SLC1A5 / Unconjugated /
Product Details
Description | Solute Carrier Family 1 Member 5 (Slc1a5/ASCT2) belongs to a family of sodium dependent amino acid transporters. Slc1a5 has a preference for transporting zwitter ions. Slc1a5 also functions as a cell surface receptor for endogenously inherited retroviruses of cats, baboons and humans as well as for horizontally transmitted type-D simian retroviruses. In addition, it has been associated with increased metabolism in malignant tumors. | |

About SLC1A5
The SLC1A5 gene encodes a sodium-dependent neutral amino acid transporter that can act as a receptor for RD114/type D retrovirus (Larriba et al., 2001 [PubMed 11781704]).[supplied by OMIM, Jan 2011]
