HTR6 / Unconjugated /
Product Details
Description | 5-HT6, a Serotonin Receptor, appears to regulate cholinergic neurotransmission in the brain rather than the expected interaction as a modulator of dopaminergic transmission. This interaction predicts a possible role for 5-HT6 Receptor antagonists in the treatment of learning and memory disorders. The 5-HT6 Receptor is abundant in limbic areas, which participate in the control of mood and emotion. | |

About HTR6
This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor family of proteins. The encoded protein couples with the Gs alpha subunit and stimulates adenylate cyclase to activate the cyclic AMP-dependent signaling pathway. This receptor is thought to regulate cholinergic neuronal transmission in the brain. Several antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs have a high affinity for this receptor.
