BMP1 / Unconjugated /
Product Details
Description | BMP1 encodes a Metallopeptidase M12A type protease that is comprised of an amino terminal signal peptide, prodomain and an astacin-like protease domain followed by CUB and EGF-like motifs. BMP1 protein has been shown to cleave chordin, the C-terminal propeptides of procollagen I, II, III and VII, pro-lysyl oxidase, probiglycan, and laminin-5, and its expression has been shown to induce cartilage and bone formation in vivo. At least six spliced variants have been reported. | |

About BMP1
This gene encodes a protein that is capable of inducing formation of cartilage in vivo. Although other bone morphogenetic proteins are members of the TGF-beta superfamily, this gene encodes a protein that is not closely related to other known growth factors. This gene is expressed as alternatively spliced variants that share an N-terminal protease domain but differ in their C-terminal region. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]
