Vesicular Glutamate Transporter 1 / ATTO 633 / S28-9

Product Details
Description Mouse monoclonal to VGlut1 (ATTO 633). VGLUT1 is expressed in a subset of glutamate neurons and transports glutamate into native synaptic vesicles from the brain, exhibiting a conductance for chloride that is blocked by glutamate. Vesicular glutamate transport has a substantially lower apparent affinity than the plasma membrane excitatory amino acid transporters. Glutamate transport by VGLUT1 is saturated with a K(m) of approximately 2 mM, in the same range as transport by synaptic vesicles. Finally, plasma membrane glutamate transporters recognize both aspartate and glutamate as substrates, whereas VGLUT1 does not recognize aspartate..

About Vesicular Glutamate Transporter 1
The protein encoded by this gene is a vesicle-bound, sodium-dependent phosphate transporter that is specifically expressed in the neuron-rich regions of the brain. It is preferentially associated with the membranes of synaptic vesicles and functions in glutamate transport. The protein shares 82% identity with the differentiation-associated Na-dependent inorganic phosphate cotransporter and they appear to form a distinct class within the Na+/Pi cotransporter family. About ATTO 633
ATTO 633 from ATTO-Tec Gmbh has an excitation peak at 629 nm and an emission peak at 657 nm.
