SLC14A2 / ATTO 655 /

Product Details
Description Rabbit polyclonal to UT-A1 (ATTO 655). UT-A1, a kidney-specific urea transporter is expressed in the renal collecting duct where it mediates trans-epithelial urea transport and is a target for regulation by vasopressin. Urea movement out of the collecting duct in the inner medulla of the kidney allows accumulation of urea in the medullary interstitium, thereby allowing maximum water reabsorption from the collecting ducts. (The antibody also recognizes a second protein from the UT-A gene driven by transcription from an alternative promoter and expressed in the thin descending limb of Henle, viz. UT-A2. ).

About SLC14A2
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the urea transporter family. In mammalian cells, urea is the chief end product of nitrogen catabolism, and plays an important role in the urinary concentration mechanism. This protein is expressed in the inner medulla of the kidney, and mediates rapid transepithelial urea transport across the inner medullary collecting duct. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
About ATTO 655
ATTO 655 from ATTO-Tec Gmbh has an excitation peak at 663 nm and an emission peak at 684 nm.
