This gene belongs to the forkhead family of transcription factors which is characterized by a distinct DNA-binding forkhead domain. The specific function of this gene has not yet been determined; however, it has been shown to play a role in the regulation of embryonic and ocular development. Mutations in this gene cause various glaucoma phenotypes including primary congenital glaucoma, autosomal dominant iridogoniodysgenesis anomaly, and Axenfeld-Rieger anomaly. PE-Cyanine®5.5 (PE-Cy5.5) is a red-emitting tandem fluorophore that combines phycoerythrin (PE) and Cy5.5. The donor molecule, PE can be excited by the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser and and transfers energy to the acceptor molecule, Cy5.5. PE-Cy5.5 has an excitation peak at 496 nm and an emission peak at 695 nm.
