Molecular WeightAbout BPE
B-PE, also known as B-Phycoerythrin, is a fluorescent protein produced by eukaryotic red algae like the genus Rhodella. B-PE consists of 3 subunits (alpha, beta and gamma). It has a primary excitation peak at 545 nm and a secondary peak at 563 nm. B-PE is closely related to R-PE which is the most common donor fluorophore in tandem dyes used in flow cytometry.
